Wire/Slickline Tools

Trinity Wireline Tools are available in a range of connections.

Supplied for standard service wells (H2S Harsh upon request)

Accelerator

The Trinity Accelerator is recommended for use with the Trinity Hydro-Mechanical and Trinity Spring Jars.

The Wireline Accelerator is normally run directly below the Rope Socket in order to compensate for loss of stretch in the wire or cable when jarring at shallow depths. However, even in deep well operations, an Accelerator may be used in order to deliver higher impact from the Jar. Upward tension on the wireline compresses the Accelerator springs storing energy. When the Jar fires the stored energy is released, increasing the jar impact at the fish.

Accelerator (Heavy Duty)

The Trinity Heavy Duty Accelerator is recommended for use with the Trinity Hydro-Mechanical and Trinity Spring Jars.

Adjustable Spring Roller Centraliser

The Trinity Spring Roller Centraliser (SRC) is designed to improve wireline operations in high deviation wells.  The SRC has already been widely used in wells of more than 80o deviations.

SRC’s are positioned strategically in the wireline toolstring to provide complete rolling contact with the tubing wall.  This removes all frictional sliding forces.

The high-energy spring stack also gives a weight indication at surface when the SRC passes through a profile or restriction.  This makes the tool a valuable aid in achieving wireline depth control without the need for electric line.  The SRC can be used to locate Depth Correlation Subs when performing slick or braided line operations in the liner or completion wellbore.

Alligator Grab

The Trinity Alligator Grab is designed to retrieve items from the well-bore where conventional grapples and debris grabs have failed.

The tool incorporates adjustable spring tension giving the operator control over the Alligator Grabs jaw force.

Bell Guide

The Trinity Universal Bell Guide is designed as an alternative to the use of Bell Skirts. The guides eliminate the need to thread or weld to, the pulling tool or overshot body. The Universal Bell Guide offers the flexibility to interchange the size of centralising Bell Guide efficiently. The base assembly consists of the Top Sub, Cylinder and Protection Sleeve, an extensive range of bell guides complements the base assembly.

Bell Skirt

Combined Universal Wire Finder Grab

The Trinity Combined Universal Wire Finder/Grab is a combination tool comprising a wireline finder and a wireline grab to retrieve broken wire.

The combination of the finder and grab allows for time saving intervention by reducing the need for a separate wireline grab run after location of the broken wire with the finder.

Utilizing the finder whilst grabbing the wire allows for a safer operation in that the risk of passing through the wire with the grab is reduced to a minimum.

When deploying the Finder Grab a pulling tool should always be run in conjunction to ensure release from the wireline fishing string at any point.

Expandable Grab

The Trinity Expandable Wireline Grab is generally run after the Wire finder.  The spring-loaded prongs of the Grab continually run against the tubing wall ensuring that the wireline will entangle inside the prongs of the Grab.

The advantage of this Grab over the more conventional tool is that the Grab will not pass through the centre of the wire coils if the line has not been balled correctly using the Wire finder.  Also, being spring-loaded it will pass through restricted internal diameters of nipples etc. and then expand into larger internal diameters further down hole.

Finder

The Trinity Combined Universal Wire Finder/Grab is a combination tool comprising a wireline finder and a wireline grab to retrieve broken wire.

The combination of the finder and grab allows for time saving intervention by reducing the need for a separate wireline grab run after location of the broken wire with the finder.

Utilizing the finder whilst grabbing the wire allows for a safer operation in that the risk of passing through the wire with the grab is reduced to a minimum.

Finder Grab

The Trinity Finder Grab is used in the same way as the standard Wireline Grab to retrieve broken wire from the well bore. However by using a Skirt with the Grab, the chances of passing the top of the broken Wireline are reduced

Finder Spear

The Trinity Universal Wire Finder Spear is used in the same way as the standard centre spear, to release or retrieve balls of wire that have become stuck in the well bore. By using a skirt with the spear, the risk of passing the wire is reduced.

Universal Wire Finder Spear has a range of interchangeable Finder Skirts sizes available to suit tubing bore size.

Fluted Centraliser

The Trinity Fluted Centraliser is run to centralise the toolstring where a well deviation causes the running and pulling tools to lay off centre..

This will ensure that down hole tools will pass through the tubing and nipples without obstruction during wireline operations.

Gauge Hanger

The Trinity Gauge Hanger is used to set pressure and temperature down hole gauges. the no-go shoulder locateds at the required landing nipple allowing the operator to slack off the wore tension whilst logging. The Gauge Hanger can be manufactured in various configurations with internal or external by-pass facility

Gauge Ring

The Trinity Gauge Ring is used to gauge tubing and to remove scale, paraffin wax, debris etc.

This will ensure that down hole tools will pass through the tubing and nipples without obstruction during wireline operations.

Go-Devil (Cutter Type)

The Trinity Go-Devil – Cutter Type is most effective in situations were the Rope Socket fish neck of the stuck toolstring is clear of sand and debris. The Go-Devil – Cutter Type can also be used to cut conventional wireline, if the wireline toolstring becomes fouled.

Go-Devil (Flat Bottom Type)

The Trinity Flat Bottom Go-Devil is most effective in situations were the Rope Socket fish neck of the stuck toolstring is not clear and a clear neck is needed to cut against.

GR Adaptor

The Trinity GR Adaptor coverts the standard shear-down Pheonix Pulling Tool into a shear-up release.

Grab

The Trinity Wireline Grab is used to retrieve broken wireline or cable down hole.  A Wireline Finder is used to collect and ball up the wire.  The Wireline Grab is then run and the barbs on the prong will engage and hook onto the wire for retrieval. Available with 2, 3 or 4 Prongs

GS Pulling/Running Tool

The Trinity Heavy Duty GS Pulling/Running Tool is designed to locate in standard internal fishing necks. Based on the standard GS, the Heavy Duty GS has more dogs for increased bearing area and more robust cores for increased strength.

The Pulling Tool can be pinned with aluminium, brass or steel shear pins.

GU Adaptor

The Trinity 'GU' Adaptor converts the standard shear-down Trinity GS Pulling Tool into a shear-up release GR Pulling Tool.

High Power Magnet

The Trinity Wireline High Power Magnet is a special purpose Wireline tool that is used to retrieve small magnetically attractable metal items such as nuts, bolts, tool parts and any ferrous debris lost within the well bore.

Hydro-Mechanical Jar

The Trinity Hydro-Mechanical Jar incorporates a hydraulic assembly, which allows for interchange ability of parts thus reducing cost of redress, whilst the introduction of an expansion chamber accommodates any thermal expansion of the working fluid. Modifications to the hydraulics ensure consistent firing times and easy re-latching.

The release/delay mechanism comprises a short stroke hydraulic unit linked to a mechanical jarring system. Elimination of the jar rod seal (present in traditional hydraulic jars) reduces the possibility of gas infiltration.

Being principally hydraulic, the Hydro-Mech Jar does not require presetting or calibration; it can be activated by exerting any overpull desired by the operator, yet when the jar fires it generates an unrestricted impact force

Hydrostatic Bailer

The Trinity Hydrostatic Bailer is used to remove sand, mud fallout, salt, paraffin, scale and other solids from the well bore, where pump type bailers have been ineffective due to the solidified nature of the debris.

The pressure relief valve operates automatically as the bailer is recovered from the well, balancing the internal and external pressure. At surface the internal pressure will be at atmospheric.

Internal Fishing Tool

The Trinity Internal Fishing Tools are designed to retrieve down hole flow control devices with damaged internal fishing necks/profiles.

Internal Spear (Self Releasing)

The Trinity Self-Releasing Internal Fishing Spear is a fishing tool especially designed to retrieve down-hole flow control devices that have damaged fishing necks.

Inverted Linear Jar

The Trinity Inverted Tubular Linear Jar is a telescoping jar that should be run in conjunction with wireline stem installed immediately above.

The Linear Bearings create a near frictionless action, allowing full force of impact from the stem above.

The Inverted Tubular Linear Jar is the ideal tool for use in deviated wells, having a proven record of success in wells with 65-75 degrees deviation.

J-Slot Rotation Tool

The Trinity J-Slot Rotating Tool is designed to rotate the toolstring in a controled manner.

Junk Catcher

The Trinity Junk catcher is designed to locate within a no-go landing nipple. Used in gas operations when changing out gas/dummy valves, or installed above flow control devices to catch any debris which may filter down and arround the lock system.

Knuckle Jar (Heavy Duty)

The Trinity Wireline Knuckle Jar is a toolstring accessory, used to provide flexibility within the Wireline toolstring. It is recommended to place a Knuckle Jar immediately below the rope socket.

The Knuckle Jar design incorporates a length extension of the socket that allows the ball to move vertically for light jarring.

Knuckle Joint

The Trinity Wireline Knuckle Joint is a toolstring accessory, used to provide flexibility within the Wireline toolstring. It is recommended to place a Knuckle Joint immediately below the rope socket.

Lead Impression Block

The Trinity Lead impression Block (LIB) is a wireline tool used for taking impressions of foreign objects in the tubing string.

The impression taken will define the size, shape and relative position of the obstruction or fish enabling selection of a suitable fishing tool.

Lead Impression Block (Donut)

The Trinity Lead impression Block (LIB) is a wireline tool used for taking impressions of foreign objects in the tubing string.

The impression taken will define the size, shape and relative position of the obstruction or fish enabling selection of a suitable fishing tool.

Mechanical Link Jar

The Trinity Mechanical Link Jar utilises the weight of the stems connected immediately above to deliver effective up and down stroke jarring impacts.

The design is based on an open link, with telescope action.

Mechanical Safe Joint

The Trinity Mechanical Safe Joint is used as a standard item within the toolstring. The main purpose of the tool is to eliminate any uncertainty of whether or not a stuck toolstring will come free before the wire breaks, or whether you should risk dropping cutters and go-devils into the well potentialy causing additional problems

Overshot

The Trinity Overshot is a wireline tool designed for retrieving equipment where the fish neck has parted or is no longer serviceable.

The robust design of the overshot allows for prolonged and severe jarring, as is often the case during fishing operations.

Pulling Tool (Heavy Duty)

The Trinity Heavy Duty Pulling Tool was developed to withstand high impact forces.  The Tool incorporates a 360-degree coverage collet to maximise contact on the fishing profile, which is supported by the Bottom Sub to give increased load bearing capability.  A Fish Neck Cage positioned between the collet fingers supports the fishing profile upon release, this ensuring there are no ‘hang ups’, even when used in heavily deviated wells.

The Heavy-Duty Pulling tool is available in both jar up to release and jar down to release versions. It only takes a small number of parts to convert the jar down into a jar up to release tool.

Running the tool with different core lengths accommodates change in reach.

Because of the design of the pulling tool, no shoulders are left exposed after release to hinder removal of the fish neck, a problem that is commonly found.

'R' Type Pulling Tool

The Trinity 'R' Type Pulling Tool is designed to locate onto external fishing necks. This tool releases with upward jarring action and can be pinned with aluminium, brass or steel shear pins.

The 'R' type tool is ideal for retrieving flow control devices where a releasing probe has to be run in conjunction with the running tool, as jarring down to locate will not shear the 'R' Type tool.

The 'R' Type Pulling Tool is available with a choice of cores, expanding the range capabilities of the tool.

Re-Pinning Tool

The Trinity Re-Pinning Tool is an essential part of any Wireline operators tool kit, designed for the re-pinning of most standard running/pulling tools

Releasable Overshot

The Trinity Releasable Overshot is a wireline tool designed for retrieving equipment where the fish neck has parted or is no longer serviceable.

The robust design of the overshot allows for prolonged and severe jarring, as is often the case during fishing operations.

The tool is released by downward jarring whereby pins are sheared allowing the inner mandrel to travel up, pulling the collet fingers from the tapered bottom sub housing.

Releasable Spear (Heavy Duty)

The Trinity Heavy Duty Releasable Spear is designed to engage the internal bore of a downhole device which does not have a serviceable fishing neck, whilst providing the facility to shear off and retrieve the spear to surface when required.

This is particularly necessary when attempting to retrieve a ‘fish’ which may need to be pumped / flowed through at a later stage if not recovered.

Unlike similar devices previously available, the Petroline Releasable Spear is designed to withstand high impact jarring operations. This feature combined with the design of the release mechanism makes this device a much more reliable option that conventional alternatives. Proven in use with the Petroline Heavy Duty Fishing service it is available in a wide variety of engagement sizes and reaches.

Releasing Tools

The Trinity SB/RB Releasing Tool is a hand held release tool for the standard SB/RB Running/Pulling Tools

Retriever

The Trinity Wireline Retriever is used for recovering cut or broken single strand wireline or small diameter stranded lines. As the Wireline Retriever is lowered into the well bore, the effect of well fluids and friction cause the skirt ride up over the mandrel exposing the opening between the cone and skirts. When the tool contacts the broken line, the line passes between the skirt and the cone. When a loss in wire tension is noted at the surface the operator will cease running in. The outer skirt will move down trapping the wire between cone and cylinder. Pulling on the wireline securely wedges the line.

Rope Socket

The Trinity Rope Socket is the uppermost component in a wireline toolstring and forms an essential link between the toolstring and the wire.

The Specially designed assembly secures the braided/slick wire to the Rope Socket. Line tension increases the grip of the Rope Socket to the wire. Available in in five different formats; Disc/Spring Type, Pear Drop Type (Slickline), Slip Type (Braided Line), Weak Point and Clamp Type.

Rope Socket (Dummy)

The Trinity Dummy Rope Socket allows a toolstring fitted with a quick connect or thread connection to be given a rope socket profile suitable for fishing and running operations.

'S' Type Pulling Tool

The Trinity 'S' Type Pulling Tool is designed to locate onto external fishing necks

Sample Bailer

The Trinity Sample Bailer is used to retrieve well samples. The tool is generally run in conjunction with the Tubing End Locator.

A flapper/ball sealing mechanism retains the sample in place as the tool is recovered from the wellbore.

Sand Pump Bailer

The Trinity Sand Pump Bailer is used to remove sand and small pieces of debris from the well bore.

The Sand Pump Bailer consists of a piston within a cylinder. Manipulating the piston by means of jarring up and down sucks debris into the cylinder for retrieval to surface. A flapper/ball check valve then prevents the debris from being lost.

Scratcher

The Trinity Wireline Scratcher is used to dislodge scale, paraffin wax or packing debris. A wire is looped (or cut to a suitable) length and inserted in holes and retained with locking screws (Wire not supplied).

Shock Absorber

The Trinity Shock Absorber is used in the wireline toolstring to reduce the effects of shock when running gauges.

The Shock Absorber is most effective run directly above the gauges.

Sidewall Cutter

The Trinity Sidewall Cutter is designed to cut the wireline at any point within the tubing string.

The Sidewall Cutter is run into the tubing (Running Prong optional) alongside the wire until the required depth is reached, gentle downward jarring then activates the Cutter. This shears the pin allowing the mandrel to force the Cutter against the tubing wall. Further downward jarring will cause the cutter blades to sever the wireline.

The Sidewall Cutter is available in two styles. Type 1 comes complete with collet retainer; whereas Type 2 does not have a collet retainer.

Skate

The Trinity Skate System transports the toolstring downhole to the wells furthest extremities.  Advantages include permanent wheel contact with the tubing wall in any orientation, reduced friction, increased reliability and extended service life.

Sleeved Finder

The Trinity Sleeved Wireline Finder is designed for determining the depth of broken wire.

The tool is ideally suited to wire finding operations where well bore restrictions are a concern.

Snipper

The Trinity Wireline Snipper is used to cut the Wireline when Downhole Tools become stuck. The Snipper is run under its own weight guided by the wire.

When the Snipper strikes the top of the fish, the shock is transmitted through the Snipper Blade Assembly, which forces the upper and lower blades together. This action creates a shearing action, which cuts the wireline. If the Snipper did not create enough momentum to cut the Wireline on contact, then a Go-Devil can then be dropped. The Go-Devil acts as a weight bar, which supplies enough force to activate the Snipper.

Spring Jar

The Trinity Spring Jar is a telescoping upstroke Jar that should be run in conjunction with a Wireline Stem installed directly above. The Spring Jat can be adjusted on or off the toolstring at surface to a predetermined force. This gives the opeerator a controlled impact force during heavy duty Wireline operations.

Spring Roller Centraliser

Star Bit

The Trinity Star Bit has hardened chisel edges, making it a useful tool to break up debris within the tubing.

Stem (Lead Filled)

The Trinity Wireline Lead Filled Stem provides the mass required in wireline operations enabling the toolstring to travel against the differential pressure acting on the cross section of the wireline toolstring, whilst helping to overcome the effects of friction. Used in jarring operations the Trinity Wireline Lead Filled Stem will improve impact forces at the fish.

It also provides the Kinetic energy, which is converted into upward and downward jarring forces.

Lead Filled Stem are used when additional weight per foot on given OD is required.

The Lead Stem is pre-assembled at Trinity and therefore should not require disassembly or re-assembly. However if any damage has occurred, the Lead Stem should be returned to Trinity for repair / replacement.

Stem (Roller)

The Trinity Roller Stem is used to assist both upward and downward jarring forces where deviation in a well is encountered and jarring using traditional jars is unsuccessful.

Stem (Standard)

The Trinity Wireline Stem serves a dual purpose. It provides the mass required in wireline operations to enable the toolstring to travel against the differential pressure acting on the cross-section of the wireline toolstring, whilst helping to overcome the effects of friction. It also provides the kinetic energy, which is converted into upward, and downward jarring forces, to improve impact at the fish.

Stem (Tungsten)

The Trinity Wireline Tungsten Filled Stem provides the mass required in wireline operations enabling the toolstring to travel against the differential pressure acting on the cross section of the wireline toolstring, whilst helping to overcome the effects of friction. Used in jarring operations the Trinity Wireline Tungsten Filled Stem will improve impact forces at the fish.

It also provides the Kinetic energy, which is converted into upward and downward jarring forces.

Tungsten Filled Stem are used when additional weight per foot on given OD is required.

The Tungsten Stem is pre-assembled at Trinity and therefore should not require disassembly or re-assembly. However if any damage has occurred, the Tungsten Stem should be returned to Trinity for repair / replacement.

Swivel Joint

The Trinity Swivel Joint is installed directly below the rope socket to provide rotation of the toolstring thereby preventing wireline twist or nesting when used in conjunction with braided line.

The Swivel Joint incorporates Heavy Duty Thrust Bearings for durability and reliability

Tar Baby

The Trinity Tar Baby is a wireline fishing tool used for retrieving small pieces of debris from low temperature wells.  Suitable for shallow depth operations.

Thread Chaser

The Trinity Thread Chaser is a must for all wireline toolboxes. It is designed to redress thread connections when minor damage has occurred.

Time Delay Releasable Rope Socket

The Trinity Time Delay Releasable Rope Socket (TDR) is run in place of the standard rope socket and provides a safe, reliable means of release should the toolstring become stuck downhole.

Traditionally when a wireline toolstring has become stuck cutter bars and go-devils have been dropped to cut the wire, and so initiate a lengthy fishing operation to recover both the wire and toolstring. Furthermore, time is lost when attaching the cutter bars, and often these will cut the wire prematurely if they strike restrictions on the way downhole.

The Trinity Time Delay Releasable Rope Socket is designed to prevent the above problems. The operator simply relaxes wireline tension, waits for the hydraulic release mechanism to activate, after which re-application of wireline tension will cause the tool to release. The wire can then be returned to surface with the Upper TDR Assembly, leaving a clean fishing neck for future retrieval of the toolstring.

The TDR can be used as a Soft Release Tool to deploy Gauges and other delicate instruments. Running the tool could not be simpler, requiring no calculations or calibration. The TDR is also easily redressed not requiring any special tools.

Utilizing a hydraulic metering system similar to that used in the Trinity Hydro-Mech. Jar, the materials have been selected to limit the effects of thermal expansion and decreased oil viscosity due to heat on the release times. Using a balanced pressure system that also provides for hydraulic fluid expansion the tool can operate throughout a wide range of conditions up to 200°C and 10,000 p.s.i.

The TDR Rope Socket - Upper Assembly is the uppermost component in the wireline toolstring when using the TDR Rope Socket and forms the link between the toolstring and the wire. Two styles are offered: -

The Pear Drop Type incorporates a tapered plug (Pear Drop), which is grooved to accommodate the wireline. This acts against the Sleeve retaining the wire. The Pear Drop and Sleeve are housed in the Rope Socket body.

The Pre-Loaded Type uses specially designed Slips and Pre-Loaded Initiator Clamp assembly to secure the braided wireline to the Rope socket.

Tubing Broach (One Piece Solid)

The Trinity One Piece Solid Tubing Broach is manufactured as a one-size/one piece constructions with hardened tapered cutting edges. These are designed to remove burrs in the tubing left after perforating procedures have been carried out. Other uses include the removal of rust scale or broaching through damaged sections of production tubing.

Tubing Broach (Universal)

The Trinity Tubing Broach is manufactured with hardened, tapered cutting edges.

The Broach is designed to remove burrs in the tubing left after perforating procedures have been carried out. Other uses include removal of rust, scale or broaching through damaged sections of production tubing.

Tubing End Locator

The Trinity Tubing End Locator is used to locate the end of the tubing so that its depth may be measured accurately.

When running in, the spring-loaded Finger trails in the tubing. As it enters the casing/open hole, the finger springs out fully to its stop (Shear Pin). To re-enter the tubing, the pin must be sheared allowing the Finger to collapse into the locator body.

Tubing Swage

The Trinity Tubing Swage is used for swaging of collapsed tubing to ensure the free passage of Wireline tools.

Tubing Wire Brush

The Trinity Tubing Wire Brush is used to clean scale and other debris from Tubing Joints, Nipples, Crossovers etc.

These can be attached to conventional toolstring or drain rod via a crossover.

Tubular Jar

The Trinity Tubular Jar is a Telescoping Jar that should be run in conjunction with Wireline Stem installed immediately above.  The body is perforated to minimise fluid resistance.

The Tubular Jar is typically used when jarring debris or other foreign matter from casing and large tubing.  Jarring forces can be delivered in both upward and downward directions.

The Jar is available with an additional fishing profile for easy retrieval, should the top sub be parted from the slide stem.

Universal Bell Guide

The Trinity Universal Bell Guide is designed as an alternative to the use of Bell Skirts. The guides eliminate the need to thread or weld to, the pulling tool or overshot body. The Universal Bell Guide offers the flexibility to interchange the size of centralising Bell Guide efficiently. The base assembly consists of the Top Sub, Cylinder and Protection Sleeve, an extensive range of bell guides complements the base assembly.

Well Sweep Magnet

The Trinity Wireline High Power Magnet is used to retrieve small magnetically attractable metal items such as nuts, bolts, tool parts and any ferrous debris lost within the well bore.

The fluted body allows fluid by-pass and also protects debris from being dislodged during its retrieval.
