Coiled Tubing Tools
Trinity Coiled Tubing products are available in a range of connections. Supplied for H2S Wells as standard (Standard service upon request)
Accelerator
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Dual Action Accelerator has been designed to complement the Trinity Coiled Tubing Dual Action Hydro-Mechanical Jar, being fully torque through and incorporating a through bore to convey fluids.
Application of either tensile or compressive load will store elastic energy within the spring stack, which is released when the Jar "fires" causing greater acceleration to the Jar Rod resulting in larger impact loads at the fish.
This Accelerator utilizes disc springs as opposed to a fluid charged Accelerator for increased reliability.
Adjustable Spring Roller Centraliser
The Trinity Adjustable Spring Roller Centraliser is capable of providing high centralising loads.
Loads Taken by the arms are fully adjustable, to support individual toolstring configurations in deviated wells. A full through bore is incorporated allowing conveyance of fluids.
Alligator Grab (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Flow Activated Alligator Grab is used to recover loose objects from within the tubing.
An internal pressure build up created by flowing through an orifice causes the Jaws to open out. On relaxation of pump rate, a heavy coil spring will close the jaws.
Ball Check Valve
The Trinity Ball Type Check Valve offers a safety system that ensures against reverse flow within the Coiled Tubing. Spring Assisted Balls are also available to enable quicker response from the valve.
Back Pressure Valve
The Trinity Back Pressure Valve enables a hydrostatic head to be maintained within the Coiled Tubing.
The pressure differential required to open the valve can be adjusted to allow for well conditions
Provided the internal Coiled Tubing pressure exceeds the set pressure differential, flow is directed through the centre of the BHA. If this is not the case then the springs return the valve onto its seat preventing reverse flow or loss of fluid from the Coiled Tubing.
Blind Box
The Trinity Blind Box is available for any combination of Coiled Tubing and thread sizes and has circulating ports, which can be positioned and angled to suit the Coiled Tubing operation.
Bulkhead
The Trinity Bulkhead is a pressure retaining termination point providing electrical communication for logging/steering tools when using stiff wireline
Bull Nose Nozzle
The Trinity Bull Nose Jetting Nozzles are available in single and multi port designs. Used for both directional and non-direction concentrated jetting applications.
Burst Disc Circulating Sub
The Trinity Burst Disc Sub is designed to regain circulation by means of over pressurising to burst a predetermined disc.
Any combination of style, O.D. and thread connections are available.
Centraliser (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Flow Activated Roller Centraliser is used to centralise the toolstring within the Well bore. Three arms are used which are spring loaded in the collapsed position. An increase in flow rate is required to activate the arms, this provides the centralising force.
Each arm has roller wheels, which reduces friction when the toolstring is moving within the well bore.
If the arms become stuck in the open position during operation a shear sub is used to provide a means of collapsing the arms back into the Body. This is achieved with an increase in the over-pull to pass through a restriction in the well completion.
The Flow Activated Centraliser can also be used for depth correlation (Tagging), were an increase in force required to pull the centraliser arm’s in, will identify the completion profile/restriction.
Centre Spear
The Trinity Centre Spear is used to release and retrieve balls of wire that become stuck in the well bore
Circulariser
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Circulariser is a hydraulically operated tool used to correct the ovality of the Coiled Tubing. Can be used on all diameters of Coiled Tubing with use of an adaptor. Fully field redressable.
Crimping Tool
The Trinity Pipe cutter / Crimping Tool is supplied with special profile crimping wheel to allow assembly of Coiled Tubing to Roll-On Connector and also a cutter wheel for removing the Coiled Tubing from the connector.
Dart Ball Check Valve
The Trinity Dart/Ball Check Valve offers a dual safety system that ensures against reverse flow within the Coiled Tubing.
Dart Check Valve
The Trinity Dart Check Valve offers s safety system that ensures against reverse flow within the Coiled Tubing.
The Dart Check Valve is obtainable with double dart if required. Spring Assisted and Polymer Darts are also available to enable quicker response from the valve.
Deployment Bar
The Trinity Deployment Bar permits the safe deployment of the Coiled Tubing, providing a section onto which the Blow Out Preventor Rams (BOP) may be closed.
Deployment Bars are supplied with an OD between connections equal to the Coiled Tubing diameter and an ID determined by the thread connections.
Dimple-On Connector
The Trinity Dimple-On Connector is an inline Coiled Tubing connector designed to withstand heavy jarring and drilling operations.
Dimple-On Manual Jig
The Trinity Manual Installation Jig is an essential tool for making up the Trinity Dimple-on Connector.
The Trinity Manual Installation Jig is operated using a standard Hexagon drive Ratchet wrench.
The Jig is designed to suit all wall thicknesses of Coiled Tubing.
Once the connection is made it has the same tensile and torque capability as the Coiled Tubing.
Double Flapper Check Valve
The Trinity Double Flapper Check Valve, with Cartridge Inserts, offers dual safety system with a Low Pressure Elastomer Seal and has the added advantage of fast and efficient redress with easy replacement of the flapper cartridge assemblies.
This style of flapper check valve can be utilised on low or high-pressure applications.
Dual Function Circulating Sub
The Trinity Dual Function Circulating & Burst Disc Sub (Shear Screw Type) is designed as a circulating safety component within the Bottom Hole Assembly.
The Design features a Shear-Out Ball Seat coupled with a Burst Disc. Should circulation be lost during a Coiled Tubing operation, an increase in applied pressure to the tubing will burst the disc, which will regain a sufficient circulation rate to pump a ball. Pressure can then be applied to the tubing to shear the shear screws and shift the piston to regain maximum circulation.
The Dual Function Circulating Sub is available for any Outside Diameter with or without Bursting Discs.
Expandable Wire Grab
The Trinity Flow Activated Expandable Wire Grab is used for the retrieval of wire after failed wireline operations.
When running, the arms are retained within the sleeve and are released by application of internal pressure developed by flowing through an orifice.
Arms can be expanded and retracted and number of times downhole without redress.
Flow Releasable Overshot
The Trinity Flow Activated Releasable Overshot is designed to fish by location on an external diameter. The Flow Release Overshot performs the same operation as the wireline Overshot but is activated by flow and not by fracture of a shear pin.
The bowl and collet slips are manufactured as interchangeable items allowing the tool to be customised to suit a range of fishing diameters.
The Overshot is operated by automatic latch on using sit down weight and released by a combination of reducing the sit down weight and increasing the flow through the tool.
Fluted Centraliser
The Trinity Fluted Centraliser is used to centralise the Coiled Tubing at points within the well bore where problems of centralisation are paramount.
The flutes allow maximum fluid by pass, past the Centraliser.
The Fluted Centraliser is available in any combination of toolstring and centralising diameter.
Fluted Nozzle
The Trinity Futed Jetting Nozzles are available in single and multi port designs. Used for both directional and non-direction concentrated jetting applications. Complete with flutes for fluid by-pass.
FSV Shifting Tool
The Trinity Formation Saver Valve Shifting Tool (FSV Shifting Tool) is a hydraulically activated device designed originally to manipulate the Formation Saver Valve between the open and closed positions. The functionality of the FSV Shifting Tool means it has been successfully used in a range of downhole devices which require mechanical manipulation to the Open and/or Closed positions. The reduced OD of the FSV Shifting Tool provides greater flexibility for the user, enabling it to pass wellbore restrictions and still expand sufficiently to engage shifting profiles downhole.The tool is commonly deployed via coiled tubing and features a set of pressure-activated keys. The differential pressure created when circulating through the coil expands these keys. Once fully expanded the profiled keys selectively latch into the shifting profile allowing bi-directional manipulation of the shifting sleeve. When the circulation rate is reduced sufficiently the keys retract back to within the body
Gauge Cutter
The Trinity Gauge Cutter is used to gauge the tubing and to remove the scale, parafin wax and debris etc., as well as ensuring the unhindered passage of subsequent Bottom Hole Assembly.
This unique style of cutter has no hard edges and the protection cage helps in guiding the cutter as well as preventing damage to the cutting edge.
Geared Reamer
The Trinity Geared Reamer is a hand/power operated tool, self-aligning unit, which prepares the Coiled Tubing to accept an Elastomer Sealed Inline Connector. Use of this system ensures the best possible sealing surface. It provides a fixed feed rate ensuring that the reamer is cutting at the optimum rate to produce the best finish possible.
Two Styles of cutter are available. The Reamer style cutter is used to produce an acceptable seal bore finish on the tubing ID, whilst the De-burr/Bevel style cutter is used to remove any sharp edges from the Coiled Tubing, which would otherwise cut the seal.
Grubscrew Connector
The Trinity Grub Screw Connector is an outline connector manufactured to suit a specific size of Coiled tubing.
A specially designed Grub Screw retains the Coiled
Tubing within the Connector.
The Trinity Screw Connector is available for any combination of Coiled Tubing and Thread sizes.
All Trinity Outline Connectors are fitted with double Back-up Rings to ensure good sealing capability.
Grubscrew Preperation and Removal Tool
The Trinity Grubscrew Preparation and Removal Tool incorporates specially profiled screws for preparation of the Coiled Tubing prior to assembly of the Trinity Grubscrew Connector.
The sliding hammer action has a dual releasing feature and can be reversed for the removal of the Grubscrew Connector.
GS Pulling Tool (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Flow Activated GS Running/Pulling Tool is designed to locate in standard internal fish necks.
To engage the GS Tool, a sit down weight is required for automatic engagement. An internal pressure build up caused by flow through the end orifice releases the tool from the fish neck.
The GS features fully enclosed springs and heavy-duty dogs.
All Trinity Flow Release GS Tools are supplied with a bull end drilled with recommended size orifice and an adaptor to accept customer specific orifices.
Heavy Duty Grapple Connector
The Trinity Heavy Duty Grapple Connector has been developed for use with velocity strings.
The connector utilises a modified buttress form helical feature rather than a conventional taper to close the grapple onto the Coiled Tubing.
It is suitable for high tensile loads and out-performs other style Grapple Connectors, whilst being easy to make-up and use.
All Outline Connectors are fitted with double Back-up Rings to ensure good sealing capability.
Heavy Duty Pulling Tool (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Heavy Duty Flow Activated Pulling Tool is designed for running and retrieving down hole flow devices. The tool has a collet to give maximum contact with the external fishing profile, for use in heavy duty jarring operations and features a unique Fish Neck Cage between the Collet Fingers. This supports the fish neck, preventing any hang up on the Collet fingers in highly deviated wells. A full sleeve both supports the Collet and gives the tool a clean profile.
An internal pressure build up caused by flow through the end orifice releases the tool from the fish neck.
All Trinity Flow Release Tools are supplied with a high and Low Flow Rate Orifice Blank Plugs.
High Power Magnet
The Trinity Coiled Tubing High Power Magnet is a special purpose CT tool that is used to retrieve small magnetically attractable metal items such as nuts, bolts, tool parts and any ferrous debris lost within the well bore.
Hydraulic Disconnect
The Trinity Heavy Duty Disconnect provides an emergency release for the Bottom Hole Assembly in the event of a stuck toolstring. The Hydraulic Disconnect is fitted above the Bottom Hole Assembly, and when activated will allow retrieval of the Coiled Tubing, leaving a clear GS fish neck 'looking up' for future fishing operations.
The design incorporates unique interlocking fingers which when combined with the support given from the bobbin provides high torque and bending capability for the joint
Hydro-Mechanical Jar
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Dual Action Hydro-Mechanical Jar has been developed around the successful wireline Hydro-Mechanical Jar. However, this design is fully torque through and incorporates a through bore to convey fluids.
The hydraulic/mechanical release mechanism combines the simplicity of the Hydraulic Jar (no calibration requirements) with the reliability of the Mechanical Jar (reduced hydraulic stroke).
The features unite to provide a jar that will always fire irrespective of what load is applied and which is less prone to gassing up.
Jarring action is initiated by applying either a tensile or compressive load to the toolstring.
Internal Combination Reamer Sub
The Trinity Internal Combination Reamer System
(ICRS) is a hand operated, self-aligning unit that prepares the Coiled Tubing to accept an Elastomer Sealed Inline Connector. Use of this system ensures that the Elastomer Seal remains undamaged during installation.
Two Styles of cutter are available. The Reamer style cutter is used to produce an acceptable seal bore finish on the tubing ID, whilst the De-burr/Bevel style cutter is used to remove any sharp edges from the Coiled Tubing, which would otherwise cut the seal.
Internal Grapple Connector
The Trinity Internal Grapple Connector is an inline means of connecting the toolstring to the Coiled Tubing using a lockout to prevent the grapple from slipping. The internal Grapple Connector can be manufactured to any OD requirements for flush installation or upset.
Internal Spear (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Flow Activated Internal Spear is designed to fish flow control devices with damaged internal fishing necks or tubular sections lost within the well bore.
Incorporated in the design is a hydraulic system, which functions the tools release mechanism. For automatic engagement of the Hydraulic Spear, sit down weight is required.
Junk Catcher (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Venturi Flow Activated Junk Catcher is designed to retrieve debris from within the well bore.
Circulating fluid through the work string actuates the tool.
The flow, which is directed via the jetting nozzles located in the upper section, creates a partial vacuum within the Junk Catcher and sucks the debris through the lower non-return flapper system which is then retained in the catcher cylinder. The lower double flapper system will retain the debris within the Catcher. The debris filter screen situated below the jetting system filters the fluids for continued circulation.
Knuckle Joint
The Trinity High Flow Knuckle Joint provides a degree of flexibility within the Bottom Hole Assembly.
The totally enclosed design makes this style of Knuckle Joint suitable for downward jarring providing more support for compressive loads.
The Trinity High Flow Knuckle Joint has a large through bore for conveying fluids.
Available in five formats; High Flow, Heavy Duty, Kickover, Torque Through and Double.
Lead Filled Stem

conventional weight bar
Lead Impression Block
The Trinity Lead Impression Block is used to identify debris etc. during fishing operations and is available for any combination of Coiled Tubing and thread size.
Motorhead Assembly
The Trinity Motor Head Assembly is designed to incorporate the standard tools used in coiled tubing operations in one compact assembly.
A choice of top Connections is available for joining to the coiled tubing. The tool is supplied/quoted as standard with thread connections as shown. Optional connectors are available upon request. These can either be an outline connector such as the Grub Screw Connector or Grapple Style Connector, or an in-line type such as the Dimple-On or Roll-On Connector, and when supplied as shown, allow the operator to achieve a minimum make-up length.
Below the top connection is a cartridge style Double
Flapper Check Valve, which offers a dual safety system combined with the added advantage of fast and efficient redress.
Below the Double Flapper Check Valve is a Hydraulic Disconnect, which offers a torque through facility and pump off release. To release, a drop ball is deployed which seats on the Bobbin, pressure is then applied to overcome the strength of the Shear Screws. Failure of the Shear Screws causes the bobbin to move into the release position allowing retrieval of the upper section, leaving a fish neck profile exposed for future retrieval of the lower section.
The lower tool is a Dual Function Circulating Sub, designed as a circulating safety component within the Bottom Hole Assembly. The design features a shear activated Ball Seat coupled with a Burst Disc. Should circulation be lost during a coiled tubing operation, an increase in applied pressure to the tubing will rupture the Burst Disc, allowing sufficient circulation to pump a ball. Pressure can then be applied to shear the Shear Screws and shift the piston to regain maximum circulation.
Mule Shoe Nozzle
The Trinity Mule Shoe Nozzles are available in single and multi port designs. Used for both directional and non-direction concentrated jetting applications.
Multi-Jet Nozzle
The Trinity Multi Jet Wash Nozzle offers the versatility of an interchangable variable jetting orifice, this tool ensures that full tubular radius are obtained during cleanout operations.
Multi-Roller Centraliser
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Multi-Roller Wheel Centraliser is designed for use in highly deviated wells.
The wheels incorporated in the design reduce friction, which can be caused by the toolstring scraping against the tubing wall.
Any combination of Body and Diameters available.
Non Rotating Centraliser
The Trinity Non-Rotating Centraliser is installed in the toolstring where support and centralisation are required. The tool allows the Bottom Hole Assembly to rotate independently from the centralising sleeve, reducing friction and toolstring wear.
Pig Receiver
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Pig Receiver is a surface accessory designed for easy installation onto the Coiled Tubing. The design allows fluid/gas to expell whilst performing pigging or inhibition treatments to the Coiled Tubing.
The End Cap is removable to allow retrieval of the Pig once the operation is completed without removing the whole connector.
This design also incorporates two securing lugs as an additional safety feature.
Plug Catcher
The Trinity Plug Catcher is used to retain plugs in the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) after cementing and/or cleaning operations.
The Plug Catcher is available for any size of Coiled Tubing
Plug Launcher
The Trinity Plug Launcher allows the insertion of various styles of plug into the Coiled Tubing in a controlled manner. The Plug Launcher incorporates a bleed off system to allow the Coiled Tubing Isolation Valves to be inflow tested prior to removing the top cap for plug installation.
Pump Through Bow Spring Centraliser
The Trinity Pump Thro' Bow Spring Centraliser is designed to assist in centralising the tool string in large bore tubing. The Centraliser can be installed at any point within the Bottom Hole Assembly.
This style of Centraliser provides a centralising force whilst passing through a range of diameters.
Springs can be designed to suit operator requirements.
Any combination of BHA sizes and centralising diameters are available
Pump Through Tubing End Locator
The Trinity Tubing End Locator has a positive arm locator. Once run outside the tubing end the locator spring loaded finger falls against the shear release pin. An over-pull greater than the string weight will shear the pin, which will allow the finger to collapse inside the body.
Reelable Dimple-On Connector
The Trinity Reelable Dimple-On connector provides a crossover between Coiled Tubing and and chosen Coiled Tubing connections. Its reusable with a superior mechanical strength to the Coiled Tubing itself.
Reelable Roll-On Connector
The Trinity Reelable Roll-On connector provides a crossover between Coiled Tubing and and chosen Coiled Tubing connections. Its reusable with a superior mechanical strength to the Coiled Tubing itself.
Retrieval Tool (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Flow Activated Retrieval Tool is a custom built tool to retrieve any style of Motorhead and Disconnect devices as specified by the customer.
The Trinity Flow Activated Retrieval Tool features fully enclosed springs and heavy-duty dogs.
An internal pressure build up caused by flow through the end orifice releases the tool from the fish neck.
All Trinity Flow Release Tools are supplied with a High and Low Flow Rate Orifice and Blank Plugs
Roll-On Connector
The Trinity Roll-On Connector is an inline Coiled Tubing connector with the same outside diameter as the coiled tubing.
Rotary Jetting Nozzle
The Trinity Rotary Jetting Nozzle is driven through tangential ports to allow more powerful and effective washing.
This tool is supplied with optional sleeves, for various jetting angles.
Shear Release Disconnect
The Trinity Shear Release Disconnect Sub offers torque through capability and a straight pull release.
Shear pins of a known strength are installed in the tool. To release, a load is applied greater than that of the combined shear pin strength. Failure of shear pins allows instant retrieval of the upper section, leaving a standard fishneck profile exposed for future retrieval of the lower section.
The Trinity Shear Release Disconnect Sub is available with either an Internal or External fish neck.
Slimline Grapple Connector
The Trinity Slimline Grapple Connector incorporates tapered slips, enhancing the grip of the connector to the tubing whilst maintaining maximum strength within the slimline design.
Slip over Bow Spring Centraliser
The Trinity Slip-over Bow Spring Centraliser is available for all sizes of Coiled Tubing and is manufactured to customer requirements.
The Centraliser clamps over the Coiled Tubing or toolstring to provide a centralising force whilst passing through a range of diameters.
The unique preloaded Coil Spring allows the Centraliser to support a constant load from its maximum to its minimum OD.
Straight Joint
The Trinity Straight Joint/Weight Bar is used to add extra mass to the Coiled Tubing String for various applications.
The Trinity Straight Joint/Weight Bar is manufactured with Box x Pin connections and is available in various sizes. The Straight Joint offers the operator a means of removing the residual curve of the Coiled Tubing at the bottom hole assembly. By straightening the bottom hole assembly the Coiled Tubing can pass unrestricted through crossovers, landing nipples and other restrictions within the well bore.
Surface Handling Tool
The Trinity Surface Handling Tool Assembly incorporates an Internal Grapple Connector and is designed for guiding the Coiled Tubing through the gooseneck when rigging up the spool.
The Grapple is inserted into the end of the Coiled Tubing and secured by tightening the locking nut.
Sweep Magnet
The Trinity Wellsweep Magnet is a special purpose CT tool that is used to retrieve small magnetically attractable metal items such as nuts, bolts, tool parts and any ferrous debris lost within the well bore.
The fluted body allows fluid by-pass and also protects debris from being dislodged during its retrieval
The magnets are extremely powerful and should not be handled by anyone with a pacemaker or similar device. Similarly they should not be placed close to any equipment affected by strong magnetic fields such as magnetic storage devices, display screens etc.
The magnets themselves will pull themselves towards fixed steelwork. To prevent injury, never place your fingers over the magnets.
Bodies are manufactured from 316 Stainless Steel.
Swivel Joint
The Trinity Swivel Joint offers bearing assisted rotation when making up the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) and this style of Swivel reduces the Torque in the BHA when running in the well.
Torque Through Quick Connect
The Trinity Torque Thro' Quick Connect is a self-aligning connector and is designed to eliminate the problems of connecting the Coiled Tubing when there is no means of rotating the Coiled Tubing or the Bottom Hole assembly.
The inter-locking system allows the tool to experience high level of torque without any detrimental effects on the connector.
A Bleed-off Plug is incorporated in the lower section of the tool as an additional safety feature.
Tubing Clamp
The Trinity Clamp is used to secure the Coiled Tubing while connecting to the Bottom Hole Assembly.
Tubing End Locator (Flow Activated)
The Trinity Flow Activated Tubing End Locator is used to tag the end of the Coiled Tubing. Being flow activated the Tubing End Locator can be used down hole as many times as required to confirm depth correlation.
In the event that the Return Spring cannot close the arms, a drop ball is employed, and an increase in pump pressure is sued to activate the Safety Sub, and retract the arms.
Fitting of a Dual Function Circulating Sub will then allow circulation to be regained, and help with precision placement of fluids.
Tubing Skate
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Skate System transports the toolstring downhole to the wells furthest extremities. Advantages include permanent wheel contact with the tubing wall in any orientation, reduced friction, increased reliability and extended service life
Tubing Snake
The Trinity Tubing Snake is used to manipulate the Coiled Tubing into the injector head at the surface prior to making up the BHA.
The Tubing Snake is available for all sizes of Coiled Tubing & Connection style.
Tubing Straightner
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Straightener is a hydraulically operated tool which is used to remove the residual bend of the Coiled Tubing to allow unrestricted installation of the connector.
Tungsten Stem
The Trinity Pump Thro' Tungsten Stem provides extra weight per foot when compared with the conventional weight bar. This Stem increases toolstring momentum, improving the effectiveness of jarring operations.
Tubing Swage
The Trinity Tubing Swage is used for the swaging of collapsed tubing to ensure the free passage of flow control devices.
The flow passage helps to wash loose scale and lubricates the swage reducing friction as the tool is run in the tubing
Quick Release Joint
The Trinity Coiled Tubing Quick Release Joint offers a safe and efficient means of connecting the bottom hole assembly.
The male and female sections simply stab together and a 90-degree turn locks the joints. The QRJ is designed to withstand load and torque compatible with each size of BHA.
A simple release tool allows the joints to be disconnected. The connection forms an integral part of each Coiled Tubing Tool and is also available in form of QRJ X Thread Crossovers.
Wire Grab
The Trinity Wire Grab is for the retrieval of Wireline / Electric line

Yo Yo Valve
The Trinity Yo-Yo Valve is used to provide a barrier when deploying & retrieving a velocity string. Once deployed hydrostatic head is applied to blow the plugs. Should the velocity string need to be removed at a future date, a drop ball is pumped to shift the inner flow tube, allowing the flapper cartridges to seat restoring a double barrier.
